Phillip J. Fry (Futurama)

by Moore Action Collectibles

Matt Groening seems to really have a knack for creating half-witted gits for main characters in his cartoons. First there was Homer Simpson and much of the Simpsons supporting characters, now there’s Bender, Dr. Zoibert, and good ol’ Phillip J. Fry in Futurama. This figure of Fry does a very good job of capturing the slowwitted nature of Fry, giving him a goofy, somewhat oblivious demeanor and throwing in some oddball accessories to complete the package.

The details in Fry don’t come in the form of fine lines and meticulous squiggly marks, but in Fry-centric odds and ends: a pack of undies (briefs, not boxers), cola, anchovies, and a ray gun. There is no over-painting to be seen and everything on the pad fits nicely. He doesn’t

have too many points of articulation from the waste up, but his legs are surprisingly limber, though why one would want to put in Fry’s legs into a number of odd position is anyone’s guess.

Fry is a figure best suited to posing somewhere. He isn’t the most swashbuckling of people in the show, so getting him into hi-jinx is sort of out of the question. Find a well-lit space, stand him up, and walk away. He’s a very presentable action figure that looks good by the work area and worth picking up.
