This
is a must have figure for Star Wars collectors.
The box is huge,
barely fitting in the largest bag from Toys "R" Us. Once the
package is open, forcing the resale value down by about 80%, the fun
begins. Unlike the rinky-dink 3 ½-inch figures’ molded plastic
clothes, Han comes dressed in real fabric fatigues from the beginning of
The Empire Strikes Back. The boots are rubberized plastic. Han
also has the macrobinoculars, helmet, scarf, goggles, locator and
blaster seen in the movie. Han has all the articulation that the
12-inch figures can provide. Knees, wrists, neck, shoulders, etc.
they’re all here. It makes for easy posing.
The Tauntaun is great,
although I think the head is a little too big. It is articulated at the
neck, arms and legs, and is in proportion to the 12-inch figures. The
bridle is
included. The Tauntaun is
also the hardest figure I’ve ever tried to stand. Balance is very,
very tricky. Try to put Han on its back and the problems multiply. There
is too much weight in the front so a counter-balance must by attached to
the tail. I found that wedging the tail between a wall and another piece
of furniture worked well to keep the Tauntuan standing.
Playability is high. My

the Tauntuan while I run
around with Han shouting, "Luke! Where are you, Luke?" It’s
also fun to re-create the Battle of Hoth outside on cold winter days. It
is definitely a toy to be played with, but the high price ($80 - $110
MIB) might deter those that simply want some fun. (Collectors note:
there is a package variant. Some figures shipped with the accessories
attached to the wall of the box, while others shipped with the
accessories attached to the floor. There is no difference in price.)
