There's something about a big axe and a billowing cape that just screams
"bad-assed". This figure continues the tradition of the Spawn figures with their imposing demeanor and weapon of choice consistently being a very
large one. That in mind this guy is a display piece, as he has very few articulation points, but then again the last Medieval Spawn was a display piece too, so it's
to be expected.
Spawn is looking very much like his normal form here, but with liberal splashes of armor plating and the previously mentioned axe and cape. It's a very hefty figure,
good center of balance, with no wobble present. The little bits added to give Spawn that more medieval look are nice and subtle. There's some skulls on a chain
around his waist and some heavy, spiked plating. His left foot, the small one, looks a little too small though. Sure there's always been that huge right foot, small left
foot motif on Spawn, but here the foot seems exceptionally small, it's actually quite distracting. The biggest faux pas though is his
shield. I couldn't even mount it on
Spawn because the arm clasps are so stiff on the thing. Also there are three arrows sticking out of the shield, presumably having gotten there from archer fire. Well,
you can kiss those arrows good-bye because they're very easy to break off. Hell, I lost one just trying to get the tape off of it when opening the
figure's package.
Despite these little problems this rendition of Medieval Spawn is nice to look at. He's more minimalist than other Spawn figures in recent times, but it's very much a
refreshing change of pace.
