Omega Weapon

by Palisades Marketing

Final Fantasy VIII had by far the most realistic character designs out of any instalment in the series. Not only that but it also had some very interesting monsters and, of course, the Guardian Forces. The series of action figures and

resin statues that have come to North America courtesy of Palisades Marketing do incredible justice to the artwork from the game. Omega Weapon is just one fine example, as the sheer level of craftsmanship in the piece is truly incredible.

The detail is amazing, from the fine points in the wings of the humanoid to the overall beastly qualities in his

steed. The ways that the organic and technological physical attributes of Omega Weapon are represented in the figure are astounding. The figures really have a strong anime-like quality to them as well. They are also both quite large, as the humanoid is about 9" tall, while his steed is about 1.5 feet long, all of this combines to create a very intimidating appearance for them.

The high level of detail makes it so that it’s hard to want to actually play with the thing for fear of messing it up. That’s okay however, as Omega Weapon is great for putting into a really bad-assed pose and just leaving it at that.

The only downsides to him is that, first, the tail is very difficult to attach to the humanoid, as it doesn’t want to stay in very often. The same problem applies to the ability to separate the humanoid from the torso and up, then attach it to the shoulder blades of his steed. At the end of the day, it’s just easier, and looks better, keeping the humanoid whole, standing next to the beast.

Omega Weapon is one fine piece of gaming related action figure goodness with a bit of anime flavor thrown in for good measure. It really does Square’s game justice.
