Raven
Hellspawn stands approximately 6" tall and is a repaint of the
original Raven Hellspawn from Spawn Series 25.He does not have many points of articulation which is to be
expected from McFarlane. The arms itself can move, but not much. There are
a few other points of articulation but nothing that really makes this a
playing figure.
Raven
Hellspawn looks pretty cool, but is definitely not one of my favorite
Spawn figures. His gauntlets on his forearms and the armor on his lower
legs are noticeable and are a nice touch.
Now that I take another look at
this figure, it could have been in the ranks of one of the best Spawn
figures out there, if he only had a better pose. His hook looks awesome
and I really like how the chain is tied around Raven Hellspawn’s waist,
but I just cannot help but think of some of the amazing possibilities
McFarlane could have used in positioning him.
I
like Raven’s helmet and think it is a creative way to slightly modify
the normal Spawn mask which lends a more medieval look. The neck of the
cape, the plated armor all over his body, and the skull armor on the
kneecaps make this figure into a winner if you like to collect that sort
of stuff.
As
would be expected from McFarlane, the paint application was done very
well. Raven has sort of a worn out look to him and it just makes the
figure look more believable to the times. The cape also looks very dirty
which you would expect from a character of this sort. He benefited from
the repaint.
Raven
Hellspawn comes with a hook that has a long chain attached to it. It’s a
welcome change from the typical sword. Even though I already mentioned
that his pose isn’t the most impressive, that does not make him look any
less menacing. If this dude told you he was going to rip out your
intestines, it wouldn’t be a threat because he would actually do it.

If
you already have the Raven Hellspawn that came out before the repaint, you
might want to pass but if you have not picked him up yet, then you might
want to give this figure some thought. I just feel that he could have been
something much more than what we weregiven.
