Skifell (Conan) by McFarlane Toys

skifell review

"Skifell's father was a Vanir Tribe Chieftain slain on the battlefield by one Conan, a Cimmerian, more than 25 winters ago. Since that day, Skifell, has been seeking to avenge his father. He is a fearsome fighter and hardened ruler of his folk."

Another fine addition to the Conan lineup comes Skifell. Collectors will not be disappointed to add this blade-wielding badass to their collection. He looks great individually, but looks even better if you have him facing off with the Conan the Indomitable figure.

There are a few points of articulation located in the neck, wrists, waist, and biceps. Accessories include two battle axes, which could get lost if people don’t keep them placed in his hands. Buyers should be aware that the smaller ax located (held by the left hand) has a removable bottom so you can place the ax in his hand.  The end is very sharp so make sure you don't lose the bottom. (Already two of my friends have cut themselves with it! To be fair though, they are idiots, but parents should still be aware and think twice before buying this figure for their children.) What’s a tad bit odd though, is the helmet on this figure which is located on Skifell’s belt. It hangs on a chain which could easily be broken if not cared for. Mind you, I haven’t been updated with the Conan storyline for a long time now, and perhaps there’s a reason for this, but a helmet attached to Skifell’s belt just doesn’t fit in and seems a tad bit odd. Lastly, Skifell includes a stand that’s covered with snow and can connect to the stand of another figure; Conan the Indomitable which in doing so makes a dramatic looking

diorama. The biggest beef I find with the figure is that I usually have to balance him against something because he can’t stand on his own for very long (even with the base).

Skifell is a very detailed figure that’s approximately 6 inches tall and is in a quite impressive pose. With one brief look at his muscles and the expression on his face you can tell how pissed off and how much effort and time Skifell has put into training to seek revenge on the man who has murdered his father. Skifell’s soft rubber cloak is very cool and has a nice looking flow some tears and show of wear which is nice

attention to detail. It’s amazing how McFarlane can take such a simple design and with a few small added details here and there and turn something simple into a great piece of work.

Is this figure worth your money? It really depends on how much you like Vikings and barbarians. If you’re a big fan then I suggest you go for it. Besides the fact that he has a hard time standing, you won’t find yourself being disappointed by purchasing Skifell.
