Spawn the Black Knight

(Spawn 26) by McFarlane Toys

The Black Knight is approximately 6" tall and has only a few points of articulation, which is expected from a McFarlane figure. It’s a very nice display piece and isn’t

meant much for playability. The articulation is located in his arms, hands, and legs. You can’t move any of his joints up or down, but rather, they rotate.

The first thing I noticed when looking at the Black Knight is that it looks absolutely identical to the cover from the actual comic that it’s based on. He sports some very

impressive head, shoulder and footgear. Equipped on his shoulders is one of the coolest gear designs I have ever seen. It looks as if it’s made of bone, which gives it a very creepy feel. However, it is also pretty sharp so it can be very dangerous in the hands of children, not that I would see why a parent would buy this for his or her kid. The Knight’s footgear is pretty unique with designs of demonic faces located on the kneecap area. His left boot also has spikes on the side, which look like bones. It is indeed a very impressive concept. The mask looks as if it’s made from the same material as the shoulder gear and judging by the fact that it’s shaped like a skull, I think it’s safe to say that most of his gear is made of bone material.

Accessories that are included in this toy are a base and sword. The sword is probably the only negative point that I can find with the Black Knight. It breaks very easily at the bottom! If you end up buying this figure, heed my warning.

Sculpting of this figure is impeccable. His muscles, proportion and everything else right down to his exceptionally well carved knuckles and veins are flawless. McFarlane made the right choice of using dark and worn out looking colors. It helps define the age of the gear and outfit. Even his blade and base look aged.

Is the Black Knight worth your money? Most definitely. If you’re into medieval type stuff, do not hesitate on buying this figure.
