The Fly, The Thing

by McFarlane Toys

The detail and craftsmanship in the lines that McFarlane Toys brings out has always been an amazing thing, but sometimes it’s not necessarily a good thing. Case in point: three of the figures in the movie maniacs line. The Fly and the two figures

from The Thing are truly hideous to look at. There’s a ton of little details added all over the place, but the problem comes in that they only make the figures harder to look at. Only the hardest of hardcore fans of either films will want to go out and get these figures, everyone else best stay away.

Articulation ranges from reasonable to awkward

with these figures. One of the Thing figures really doesn’t lend itself posing at all, but the fly is decent. All along the way the detail is high with disgusting goo, hideous appendages, and so on. Nonetheless they aren’t a pretty sight and would best be kept out of view.

Sometimes a lot of detail and an embrace of the macabre can be a bad combination. Some may get a kick out of these three figures, but most will probably be aghast with what they see. These are a group of action figures best to avoid.
