Ultimate Batman
(by Kenner)
Nothing
quite matches the imposing presence of the Dark Knight.
The
first thing everyone will notice about this figure is its size. 15"
is a lot of action figure. The sculpt is based on Batman’s likeness
from Batman: The Animated Series. The design is excellent. The colour
scheme is perfect. Instead of a molded plastic cape, real material is
used. It runs from the shoulders down to the ground. The fabric furls
nicely in a breeze. Articulation is limited to three points: the waist
and the arms at the shoulders. Only one accessory is included, a
bat-type gun with a huge barrel. It’s out of character for Batman to
sport a gun, but it looks good in his hand. A bat-rang or the grappling
hook seen in the
animated series would have been a better choice. The
best feature of this figure is the light-up eyes and chest emblem. A
couple of AAA batteries fit in a compartment in the back. To activate
the light action there is a button near the right shoulder. Appreciate
this feature fully in a dark room.
Playability
is a limited. But the tradeoff is worth it. This piece is solid. There
is no problem getting him to stand. The price is reasonable for this
type of figure.
Number
of times I took Ultimate Batman into final exams for Grade Twelve as a
good luck charm: 4.
