Miner 2049erLooking back on Miner 2049er I can see what a crappy game it was, but when I was six I was in love with this game. You control a miner running around underground caves. To complete each level, the "floors" of the level must be walked over.
(I suppose this is to signify that the miner is sucking up the minerals through his feet.) There are bad blobby guys to jump over, or you can make them blue and turn them into points (a la Pacman) by grabbing various pieces of mining equipment. To facilitate navigation of the levels you have to master jumping. (You practically have |

to be one with the Force to get through some of the levels.) If the miner falls more than his own height, he splats into the ground, his messy remains covered by his helmet. Of course, he can’t rely on his jumping prowess all the time – there are ladders, elevators, moving platforms and slides. Most of the levels are extremely hard – I never got by level 5. The levels are designed for precise jumping. There is a strict time limit to keep in mind as well. The combination |

of the two necessitates that you complete the level in a specific way. Finding the specific way to complete a level is time consuming, not to mention frustrating. Get used to watching the miner fall through the air, turning into a pancake as he slams into the ground, because you’ll be seeing it a lot. The enemy AI is laughable – you’ll always be able to easily avoid them. The real enemy is time and gravity . . . wasn’t that the theme of an episode of Star Trek Voyager? Not worth playing today unless you’re a Colecovision fanatic. - Omni
