Mr. DoIs there an epic backstory for Mr. Do? If there is, no one can remember it. Basically, Mr. Do is a blobby white guy that must dig through piles of dirt to collect cherries before some blobby purple guys kill him. The premise is simple but for some reason it’s also addictive.
Mr. Do must run through the dirt, creating tunnels behind him, to collect the cherries. He’s equipped with a gun that shoots a single bouncing projectile that careens off walls until it hits an enemy or returns to him. The gun is a plus/minus. On the one hand you can peg the purple guys from a distance. But if you miss, the projectile continues bouncing around the level while Mr. Do runs for his life. Fortunately there are other ways for Mr. Do to defend himself. Each level has a number of boulders which can be used to squish enemies or block tunnels. Blocking off a passage is a good way to slow down enemies but it can also make them angry |

which turns them into diggers. Diggers can plow through dirt and will usually attempt to home in on Mr. Do for a few seconds before they revert to their original form.
The action can get frantic. Although there are no power-ups there is the chance to earn extra men by collecting letters that spell "EXTRA." The letters appear randomly or when Mr. Do collects the item that spawns the purple |

guys. When the item is retrieved the action is paused and the letter appears, along with three very angry looking blue chompers that all have one thing in mind – kill Mr. Do. Shooting the letter will unpause the action and get rid of the blue chompers. To complete a level, Mr. Do must collect all the cherries. He doesn’t personally have to collect them all – if an enemy eats a cherry it still counts and can be critical in completing a level. When you get all the letters for "EXTRA" or find a diamond (hidden in the boulders) Mr. Do gets an automatic pass to the next level. The simplicity of the graphics and sound are in contrast to the gameplay, which, as mentioned before, is addictive. The same eleven levels repeat themselves forever. The enemies getting progressively smarter and faster. No mater how many twisty tunnels Mr. Do digs they’ll always be clipping his heels. They’ll even dodge boulders. Of course, when the speed can go no further it resets – it’s like starting from level one. Thankfully the control is good so precise movement is possible After so many years, the music in Mr. Do is still good – even if it does repeat itself as much as the levels do. - Omni
