This Week's GamesWeek of October 8th 2006
Last
week saw the release of a few new sports games, but things have picked
up with some good stuff from Capcom, Namco and Atlus. God
Hand Let’s
get this straight - God Hand is not a great game by any means, but it is
a hilarious one. In the first level, you’re running around some
Western town, set to trippy surf rock as you’ll pummeling guys in the
crotch and picking up gigantic fruit power-ups. It's a parody of every
Streets of Rage-style beat-em-up, and it's only $30. Good deal. Tales
of the Abyss The
Tales games have always been just kinda okay, except for the recent
Legendia, which was sadly disappointing. But the most recent titles has
flipped things around, and comes from the same development team as Tales
of Symphonia, a much better game. Don't expect much in the way of decent
plot, but the Tales battle system is almost always fun.

Shin
Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner Everyone
should pick up any new Shin Megami Tensei title that comes out, for
being one of the most stylish and progressive RPG series out there. The
most recent installment is vastly different from all others out there,
by blending elements of old school style adventure gaming with action
elements, set in 1930s Japan. |

Mortal
Kombat Armageddon The PS2 version of this seems to be coming out a bit earlier than the Xbox release. I wouldn’t bet on the fight engine being any different than the last two games, but if you want a veritable encyclopedia of the game's extensive character roster, this would be it.
