Games on the Cheap 6

(January 13, 2005 by Stefan Shetty)

SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs (PS2)

Genre: Action

Hours of Play: Unlimited!

Full Armchair Empire Review

The sequel to the popular shooter SOCOM: US Navy SEALs doesn't disappoint. It improved on the online team-based gameplay and fixed all of the single player AI problems evident in the first game. With tons of extras, great visuals and a revamped online experience, SOCOM II is a great game to get. Since it is online, you can really get a lot of hours out of it.

Secret Weapons Over Normandy (PS2)

Genre: Action / Flight Sim

Hours of Play: 20 - 30

Full Armchair Empire Review

You probably weren't old enough to pilot a WWII plane in the war but Secret Weapons Over Normandy is the best thing. You can torpedo U-boats, bomb Panzers and shoot down German planes to contribute to the war effort. And best of all – this game is long lasting fun.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (GC)

Genre: Stealth Action

Hours of Play: 15 - 20

Being a professional hitman is a very attractive career. Eidos gives you that option without the jail term that usually comes with it. Hitman 2 takes the Hitman franchise to new levels with great AI, lush graphics and the inclusion of in game saves.  For a pleasant change from run-and-gun games, Hitman 2 is the best choice.

Dynasty Warriors 4 (PS2)

Genre: Action

Hours of Play: 40+

Each addition to the Dynasty Warrior series hasn't been groundbreaking. New sequels offered slight improvements over last years model. Dynasty Warriors 4 goes the same path but improves on the hack-and-slash formula greatly and added a hint of strategy. You follow the events of Ancient China as you progress through 50+ stages. There is no game like it.
