Linux on Gamecube?

(January 20, 2004)

Linux programming enthusiasts dedicated to bringing the OS to a number of unconventional platforms have released an early version of their latest project, Gamecube Linux Project.  Named "Linuxpreview", the software is an early test version of running the open source software on Nintendo's console.  The plan for the project is to eventually allow a Linux-powered Gamecube to be used as a thin client, a multimedia terminal, a small PowerPC-based server, or as a runtime environment for homebrew development.

Those interested in learning more about the project can do so at its home page.
