EA Sweetens the DICE Deal

December 20, 2004

As Electronic Arts continues to negotiate with Sweden-based developer, Digital Illusions, they have modified their offer to the Battlefield 1942 creators, after initially being turned down last week when two key DICE shareholders refused, stating that they believed that Battlefield 1942 would likely make quite a bit of money in 2005, and EA had not included this in the language of the deal.

At the onset, EA appears to have wanted at least 90% of the shares in DICE, but now is happy to settle for only more than 50% (EA currently has a 44% stake in the Swedish developer).  The offer has also been extended, since it was first set to last until December 16th of this year.

Outside of this, the rest of what EA may be offering is still unknown.
