Demo Release Round-Up
PC
(June 3, 2004)
A handful of demos were made available today. Here's some basic info on them (hasn't been cleansed of PR spin), and some places where the demos can be downloaded.
Alida (Got Game Entertainment) 37MB
"This intricate first person 3D graphical adventure game created by Australian game developer, musician, and artist Cos Russo is set on Alida, an abandoned island theme park ten miles out at sea. Originally built and inhabited by a wildly successful rock band, the island is actually a gigantic guitar, replete with wondrous and ornate graphics, unique and bizarre locations.
When the band split up, Alida was abandoned. But, now, several years later, the band’s manager suggests a reunion on Alida. Soon thereafter band member Arin leaves for the island and is not heard from again. Players must search the island for the missing musician and bring him home.
Featuring clever and thought-provoking puzzles, atmospheric ambient effects, and an entrancing original music score, in their search for Arin, players will soon find themselves lost in "Alida"."

Spiderman 2 (Treyarch/Activision) 197MB
"Two years have passed since Peter Parker first hit the streets of New York City as the conflicted crime-fighter Spider-Man. Now he finds himself battling his most diabolical villain yet, the mechanized,
multi-tentacled Doc Ock. The nefarious Doc Ock was once Dr. Otto
Octavius, a brilliant nuclear physicist. But a freak accident transformed him from a timid researcher to a criminally insane megalomaniac who blames Spider-Man for his horrible transformation. Now the scientist Peter once idolized for his remarkable intellect has marked our web-slinger for death.
