Tekken 5 Bonus Game Revealed

SAN JOSE, Calif., (December 17, 2004) – Leading video games developer and publisher Namco Hometek Inc. announced details today about TEKKEN’s bonus mode in its highly anticipated fighting franchise title TEKKEN® 5.  The action-based game mode allows players to enjoy the distinct game play of the 20 million unit-selling TEKKEN franchise with use of renewed control mechanics.  Exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, TEKKEN 5 is scheduled for a North American release in Q1 of 2005.

Unfolding the side storyline of character Jin Kazama, the bonus mode brings players more invigorating fighting action than ever before, including blasting off or pounding a large number of enemies coming at them in mass quantities.  Players can also enjoy 

unique actions not allowed in the main game, including the ability to move freely throughout stages, destroy columns and walls, jump to the second floor, double jump to obtain out-of-reach items and hang from walls.  The bonus mode will also contain a number of strategic elements to challenge players as they advance further along in stages.

 three new characters, for a total of 20 default characters to start and more to unlock as players progress in the game.  TEKKEN 5 allows players to use their fight money to customize their characters with various accessories such as hats, glasses and an assortment of different costumes.  Each of the new characters are equipped with a variety of deadly techniques, and the returning characters have been updated with new moves and attack combinations.
