Eurogamer is reporting
that they have acquired leaked marketing documents that contain data on
a second God of War game in production for the PlayStation 2, and due
out in February of next year.
While they have been unable to receive confirmation direct from Sony as
to the authenticity of these documents, what they have, they feel, is
quite compelling.
In the papers,
they mention that the game will again focus on the anti-hero, Kratos, as
he continues to try and get revenge on the gods of Olympus. It
would appear that Sony wants to position their God of War franchise to
better compete with Prince of Persia. In the documents, there are
also apparently hints of the series making its way to the PS3 in time.
Again, these are
still rumors until we can get confirmation from Sony, but they are titillating
nonetheless. Given the success that God of War enjoyed at retail,
it really would come as no surprise to see it turn into a series
eventually.
