New
additions make the Director's Cut version a must buy for survival fans
when it arrives in stores next week.
TORRANCE, Calif., October 28, 2004 - Tecmo announced today that Fatal
Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly DIRECTOR'S CUT on the Xbox® video game
system from Microsoft will ship Monday, November 1, 2004. The
latest installment in the terrifying cult classic Fatal Frame
series, promises to be the scariest game of the season making it a
must-buy during the holidays. The fright-infested title will haunt in
new ways on Xbox with the addition of a new First Person Mode, where
fears arise as the new FPS mode gives players limited sight, creating
new insecurities and immersing the player more fully into the horrifying
world of Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly DIRECTOR'S CUT.
"With its eerie environments, chilling atmosphere, and
spine-tingling sounds, Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly DIRECTOR'S
CUT is a must-have for gamers who prefer psychological thrills and
chills over your typical horror game in this genre," John Inada,
Tecmo's Director of Marketing, said. "With the blockbuster
success of movies based on Japanese horror, psychological thrillers are
gaining widespread interest, focusing on mind games over blood and
horror. If horror fans like these types of films, they will love
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly DIRECTOR'S CUT, which not only plays
with their minds but virtually immerses them into its world of
terror."
Fatal Frame 2:Crimson Butterfly DIRECTOR'S CUT will also
challenge fans of the series with an action-packed new mode called,
"Survival Mode", where players will be transported to a new
frightening environment, "All God's Village" to
experience one challenging ghost after another as they come at you from
all sides. Only the strong will survive as even the best ghost busters
will have their skills tested in this new mode.
Rounding out the additional features in the new Xbox version will be new
creepy settings, enhanced graphics and sound, additional costumes, and a
never-before-seen new ending, all amounting to one of the scariest games
to ever hit the Xbox platform. Top gaming editors agree,
"Turn off the lights, close the blinds, and prepare to get the
fright of your life -- Fatal Frame II: Director's Cut is as scary
as it gets," IGN writes, while GameZone.com concurred, giving the
survival-horror title a high 9.0 rating and saying that, ""Fatal
Frame 2: Director's Cut stands as one of the creepiest and most
disturbing game experiences I've had in a long time," wrote
GameZone.com.
