Today the Turner
Broadcasting division of Time Warner announced plans for a new game network
called GameTap, an online network where subscribers will be able to play
classic games. The purpose of GameTap will be similar to that of
other Turner projects where older content is made available to those
interested that may not have otherwise have stuck around.
So
far, Ubisoft and Activision have games that will be available for the
service among a group of 17 publishers. GameTap will have games
for systems like the NES and Genesis available for play via emulation
software for PC users, with a library totaling over 1,000 games when the
service starts.
