In the latest
issue of Famitsu, it has been revealed that Capcom is currently working
on Resident Evil 5 for the PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Details
are still extremely sketchy at this point as to what will be in the
game, but from this early report, it does appear that the game will be
emulating the same over-the-shoulder perspective that was recently used
in Resident Evil 4.
Other tidbits
creeping out about the game is that Jun Takeuchi, the man behind Street
Fighter 2 and the Onimusha series, will be producing the game. At
this point there is also a lot of speculation as to who the protagonist
featured in the game's early screenshots. Most people have a
sneaking suspicion that the man is in fact Chris Redfield from the
original Resident Evil, but this has yet to be confirmed.
One other aspect
of the game that has people scratching their heads at the moment is that
many of the environments featured in the Famitsu article for Resident
Evil 5 are awfully sunny, almost cheerful, making for a very stark
contrast to previous games in the series, where everything was dark and
dreary.
At this point,
there is little more known about the game at this point, but we really
wouldn't be surprised to see more information reveals this Fall when the
Tokyo Games Show rolls around.
