Bandai and Namco to Merge

May 2, 2005

To better cope with the recent tough times that the toy and videogame markets have been going through in Japan, Bandai and Namco have announced that they will be merging into a joint holding company on September 29 of this year.  After the merge is complete it will create the second larges toy company in Japan behind Sega Sammy Holdings Inc.  In this new holding company, Bandai will hold a 57 percent stake in the company, while Namco has the remaining 43.

More information regarding how the two companies plan to integrate is expected to be made later today, after planned meetings this morning.
