I recently purchased the Delta 980T-SSSD-DST Pilar Single Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet for a self-renovation, and I couldn’t be happier. This faucet jumped out at me at me because of its sleek look and stainless finish. I knew that the finish on the faucet would be easy to keep clean so that it always had a new appearance, and I was right. The patented Brilliance Stainless finish is guaranteed not to corrode, tarnish, or discolor for as long as I own my home!

Delta Faucet 980T-SSSD-DST Specifications

Because this was no ordinary faucet I was afraid it would take longer to install. I was certainly wrong about that! It did not take any longer to install than any other standard 2-hole faucet – this faucet uses standard 2-hole, 4” cutouts for installation.

The high-arc pull-down portion of the faucet swivels 360 degrees, which is a pretty cool features that I didn’t even know I wanted! The length of the hose is 59” which provides a great reach in order to fill my flower watering can and dog water bowls. As for flow rate, the faucet performs at 1.80 gpm at 60 psi, or 6.8 L/min at 414 kPa.

This Delta faucet not only looks great, it is ultra functional. To top it all off, the DIAMOND Seal Technology features a valve embedded with diamonds. Up to this point, I thought diamonds were only useful for jewelry – not the case! This diamond technology addition will ensure that my Delta Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet operates like new for the life of the hardware and the house.

  • With Touch2O Technology a simple touch anywhere on the spout or handle will start and stop the flow of water
  • Helps keep your faucet cleaner, because washing the mess off your hands shouldn't involve making a mess of your faucet
  • LED light signals blue when touch mode is active and flash red when batteries are running low

Delta Faucet 980T-SSSD-DST Features

It’s hard to get excited about kitchen faucet features, but this Delta unit really brings a lot to the table. To start, the exclusive MagnaTite spray head docks securely and has a snug fit. This means that the spray head is held in place by a magnet and requires only a gentle tug to pull it down. When returning the spray head to its normal position, the magnet almost seems to grab it from your fingers to ensure a tight fit – this tight seal will help to prevent the growth of bacteria over time as well.

One of the best features of this Delta 980T-SSSD-DST is the touch technology – I can easily turn the water on with a touch from the back of my hand or one of my clean fingers. No wonder it’s called a Touch 2O! Whenever my hands are dirty or greasy from cooking, I just have to tap the faucet to get the water flowing. I don’t have to spread grease, dirt, or other germs around my kitchen. That feature alone just blows me away.

The built in soap dispenser adds to the already-useful Touch 2O technology. Whenever I grease pans for baking, I need a way to get my hands clean without getting grease all over the sink and fixtures. The Touch 2O feature and the soap dispenser ensure that this won’t happen again. When I think about all of the people working with raw meat in their kitchens, I realize how far Delta has gone to ensure that germs are not spread from one surface to another in the kitchen. I really have never seen so much useful technology embedded in one faucet before.

The touch technology has helped and will continue to help me conserve water and be more eco-friendly. Instead of having to turn the water on for long periods of time, the touch technology allows me to use just what I need for the task at hand. The gentle pressure required to turn the water on and off allow me to get just the right amount of water without excessive waste.

What is more, the features of this Delta faucet will make life easier for those friends of ours who have disabilities or physical impairments. Because the faucet requires only gentle pressure to turn on and off, those with fine motor control problems will have no problem using the kitchen faucet.

Delta Faucet 980T-SSSD-DST Extras

The Delta 980T-SSSD-DST Pilar faucet is in sharp contrast to pull-out style faucets. Pull down faucets require less effort to operate than pull-out faucets. Pull-out faucets usually pull out from the side, and these types of movements seem almost unnatural. Water flows downward, so the faucet should pull downward in the same direction as the flow of the water. The 980T-SSSD-DST was truly designed for the ergonomic, utilitarian kitchen of today.

If you care about the brand of your equipment like I do, check out this interesting tidbit – The Delta brand is an innovative leader in the way that we use water every day. Delta Faucet Company was founded in Greensburg, Indiana, in 1954. Today, Delta’s corporate headquarters are located in Indianapolis, IN. This means that by supporting Delta, we are supporting American manufacturing, ingenuity, and engineering. When I think of quality faucets, I think of Delta.

Delta Faucet 980T-SSSD-DST Warranty

Delta offers a Lifetime Limited Warranty on the Delta 980T-SSSD-DST for the original purchaser. Delta is known for its amazing customer service department. For this reason, it will be convenient to file a complaint or ask for a replacement if that time should ever come. It has been my experience that companies that offer such good warranties do so only because their products are of extremely high quality and operate for years with almost no hassles or worries. I am sure this will be the case with the 980T-SSSD-DST model as well.

Delta Faucet 980T-SSSD-DST Conclusion

Whenever I am considering a remodel or a simple fixture replacement, I will always consider Delta Faucets first. The money I pay up front for a quality faucet like the Delta 980T-SSSD-DST Pilar Single Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet is an investment in my home. I do not take investments likely. I now look for products that work well and will last long. With this Delta faucet, I have gotten so much more. I have gotten function, style, and durability.

For a long time I have known that Delta was a leader in the faucet industry. But it wasn’t until my most recent purchase of this unit that I realized how “green” this company was. Delta’s commitment to the conservation of water certainly shows through in the “tap” feature of this new faucet. The fact that I now have another tool in the kitchen to keep me from spreading germs around from surface to surface is also a great consideration for me. Delta already shows that it cares because of their high-quality products. But, the “tap” feature of the faucet goes far beyond just being a feature. I will continue to buy Delta products because of their commitment to remaining eco-friendly and because they are focused on meeting the needs of the customers they serve in more ways than one.

I also believe that my choice in purchasing Delta Faucet products is going to help me to maintain the value of my home. The two most utilized rooms in a home are the bathroom and kitchen. Whenever others see that I have paid attention to detail by installing such high quality fixtures, they are going to understand the care which I give to my entire house.

When it comes to quality, functionality, and durability, there can be no shortcuts. Before I began using Delta Faucets, I would sometimes just pick up cheaper fixtures from a home goods’ store. I paid for those poor decisions in the time and money I had to spend in fixing leaky faucets and with numerous fixture replacements. I can confidently say that my purchase of the Delta 980T-SSID-DST has inspired me to make more efficient decisions as a consumer. I wholeheartedly recommend this awesome faucet to anyone looking for an easy-win upgrade in their kitchen!
